About Nicola Jones

Nicola is a self taught artist who delved into her flora and fauna painting passion with gusto at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. Before that she taught primary school aged children in all the wonders of art making. In truth though they taught her. 

 

 

Nicola paints every day and while still life is her go to style she loves to paint landscapes and in particular seascapes, because of the patterns and movement in the water. 

Using acrylics, oils and gouache to create limited palettes with  loose broad brushstrokes Nicola creates expressive art which showcases the depth of colour to focus the viewers’ experience of both energy and harmony.  

 

She works from her garden studio just a short walk from Sydney’s Blackwattle Bay and draws inspiration from the local surroundings as well as native gardens, the offerings from florist/flower markets and trips around this big beautiful land.

She lives with her husband and two ginormous sons who eat a lot of food.  Her wonderful companion and muse Peanut Jones is the only company she keeps while painting.

Nicola is just beginning a 3 year Bachelor of Fine Art degree at The National Art School in Sydney.
